“Boutique” is the word we’d used for Vermont’s AI scene. The University of Vermont (UVM) and the Vermont Advanced Computing Center (VACC) generate some of the activity, but so do a range of small and mid-sized companies in Burlington and South Burlington. According to the Vermont Technology Alliance (VTTA), STEM/tech jobs make up 25% of all Vermont employment. If you’re not interested in working remotely, have a look at what’s happening in the realms of aerospace manufacturing (e.g. BETA Technologies), cyber (e.g. NuHarbor Security), AI infrastructure (e.g. Marvell), and automotive software (e.g. Cox Automotive).
